A long history since 1926…

1926

The CONTESSI brothers, Aldo and Giuseppe, importers of engineering goods from Germany see the potential and future development prospects of oxy-acetylene equipment and devote all their energies to the promotion of new metal cutting and welding methods.

1935

Their proven experience encourages them to manufacture a series of innovative equipment which quickly dominates the market in preference to the German equivalent.

1940

Increase in demand necessitates the transfer to the new larger factory in Sestri Ponente.The production process is restructured and the first task is to ensure immediate availability of all spare parts for customers, The war makes it very difficult to get hold of rare metals but it does not stop work.

1946

The post-war period finds CONTESSI ready for recovery. Their blowpipes have an immediate application in demolition work and the subaqua version help to free the ports from the floatsam and jetsom of war not only in Italy but also in Normandy.The miracle of feverish reconstruction sees CONTESSI active in new markets. The success of its new equipment extends.

1966

The new generation comes into the business; Fabio CONTESSI after specialized studies abroad, brings his training and dynamism to the established and experienced management team. National and international organization appoint him to representative and management functions. These include Associations (ANASTA and GAS-EUROSUD), Standards Organizations (UNI, CEN), scientific bodies such as the Italian and International Institute of Welding.

1976

CONTESSI celebrates its half century of business, praised by thousands of customers including the best engineers in the field. Radical changes with the introduction of electronics in production processes necessitate massive investment in factories as well as equipment. Telex and computers become basic tools of company organization to resolve ever-changing problems.

2003

The third generation, in the person of Filippo CONTESSI, enter in the Company. With his enthusiasm and dynamism the company could look forward to the future, following the changing needs of the market.CONTESSI’s turnover, is more than ever lean forward export. 2011

A long industrial history. With over 85 years of experience, CONTESSI strongly push on evolution, updating its production to the up to date normative an the UNI ISO 9001:2008 on quality system process.

2013

Investments for new machinery and process upgrades to further enhance the safety in the production units and of products themselves, brought an increase in production capacity and the reduction of processing times of orders.

2014

CONTESSI confirms its attention to environmental issues through new energy efficiency measures in its production unit in Genova, that increase the level of sustainability of its products, always made ​​from 98% recyclable materials: today also the energy required to produce them comes in large part from renewable sources by the adoption of both photovoltaic and thermal solar panels.

2016

The Company obtains certification by DNV-GL as an Approved Supplier of Inspection ad Testing Services of Centralized Gas Welding and Cutting Equipment on Ships, High Speed and Light Craft and Mobile Offshore Units.

2018

CONTESSI lauches a program to update the organization and infrastructure of its poduction units with the goal of improving the safety of operators as well as efficiency.
This updating process involves CONTESSI's Quality Management System in order to achieve ISO 9001 certification according to the new 2015 standard.
